Klondike Solitaire is one 52-card deck dealt into seven columns. The first column has one card, the second two, and so on up to seven. Only the top card of each column starts face up. The other 24 cards are the stock.
How to play
Build the tableau down, red on black or black on red. A face-up run of the same direction can move together. An empty column takes a King and anything already attached to that King.
The four foundations, one per suit, start with the Ace and climb to the King. A card can move up only when the foundation of that suit is waiting for its rank. The deal is won when all 52 cards are on the foundations.
Click the stock to draw. This table can draw one card or three. One-card draw turns the stock over more often. Three-card draw shows you every third card first, so a card you need can sit under the two in front of it until the stock recycles.
What to watch
- Turn a face-down card before you chase a foundation. A buried Ace does nothing until the card on top of it moves.
- Do not send a card up just because the foundation can take it. If that card is the only landing spot for a longer run, the tableau can stall.
- Empty a column only when you have a King ready. An empty column with no King is a hole you cannot fill.
- On a three-card draw, count the stock. The card you need may be the one you skip twice before it becomes the top of a group of three.

Games like Klondike Solitaire
- Klondike Classic uses the same seven-column layout and the same one-card or three-card draw. The foundations still run Ace to King by suit.
- Spider Solitaire uses two decks and has no foundations. A run leaves the table only when it is one suit from King down to Ace.
FAQ
How many cards are in Klondike Solitaire?
One deck, 52 cards. Twenty-eight are dealt into the seven columns. Twenty-four start in the stock.
Can you move more than one card?
Yes, if they are face up and already stacked down in alternating colors. A face-down card under them does not come along.
What goes in an empty column?
A King. If the King has a legal run on it, that run moves with the King.
Is Klondike Solitaire free?
Yes. It opens in the browser on this page. There is no download and no account.
